Downgrading Post

This post will be updated daily to put on new downgraders and remove outdated ones. These downgraders can brick your psp..so read the instructions carefully and download the right one suitable for your psp.

TA-82 & TA-81 Users 2.71 - Quickest Way to get from 2.71 to 1.5 (Then to 3.03 OE-C OPTIONAL)

First of all, confirm whether it's a TA-81 or a TA-82.

A readme is included...which tells you different instructions if you either have a TA-81 or a TA-82

Upgrade your PSP 2.71 to a 2.8 using the 2.8 update. 2.8 Update

I presume you already know how to update your psp. Now you want to begin your downgrade.

2.8 to 1.5

Read the instructions in the read-me carefully..then continue. I have tested this on my TA-82 psp and it did work.

(Optional) Upgrade to 3.03 OE-C
3.03 OE-C

Congratulations you now have a 3.03 OE-C

The long awaited 3.03 easy-to-use downgrader!
NOTE: Once you go back down to 1.5 YOU CANNOT go back to 3.03 until further notice. 3.03 OE-C will be fine though.

* This downgrader is for v3.03 firmware only. But if you have v2.81 - v3.02, no problem - you can just upgrade to v3.03 to use the downgrader.

* You need a copy of the unpatched GTA:Liberty City Stories UMD. No ISOs, no patched UMDs, not Vice City Stories. The most reliable way: the unpatched disks have the v2.0 firmware update on them.

* This downgrader is intended to enable homebrew. Homebrew is NOT the same as piracy. Don’t be a thieving loser - buy the games you play.

* The downgrader will work on all current PSP hardware (TA-079 - TA-086). Patching of TA-082+ is automatic in the downgrader.

* You downgrade at your own risk. There is always a chance of bricking, although we have done everything we can think of to make this process safe.Everything you need to know concerning a successful downgrade can be found in “Downgrader_HOWTO.txt.” Read them carefully!Also, for those who fear messing with their PSP’s flash, can take advantage of the full homebrew experience with Homebrew Enabler (HEN) for 3.03. “HEN 303 - the Duff release” works in the same manner as Dark_AleX’s HEN. The requirements: a firmware 3.03 PSP and an unpatched version of Grand Theft Auto: Libery City Stories. Details on installation and usage are inside README.txt.

TA-82 users have no fear! HEN-D is here! Homebrew Enabler allows a TA-82 PSP to run homebrew...so you're no longer in the cold. Do not know if you have a TA-82 or not? Well if you bought an Entertainment package at either EB Games, Zellers or Walmart after the September of 2006, I can nearly gurantee that you have a TA-82, if you still don't know...read my previous post on it. Try HEND today...it works great and I personally use it on my TA-82 PSP.The file below also includes Devhook(Device Hook) which allows you to emulate psp firmware up to 3.01! Before running make sure you have a 2.71(most common TA-82 Version)Readme is included for instructions.Credits go to Booster for Device Hook and Calo for HEND

TA-81 vs TA-82

If you don't know yet, Downgrading your PSP is dangerous and can result in a bricked(non-working) PSP. To make sure a downgrader works for you; people have made firmware downgraders for a TA-81 Motherboard and a TA-82 motherboard. A TA-81 can pretty much run everything...a TA-82 needs an ENABLER to run what a TA-81 can run.To see if you have either a TA-81 or a TA-82 I strongly recommend take a look at this file. If you don't you put your PSP at risk. I take no credit for the document, I just happend to have it for a long time.
